The family autumn festival 'Seoil Starlight Festa' comes to Seoul National University of Education's grounds on Saturday
Seocho-gu in Seoul will host the "2026 Seoil Starlight Festa" at Seoul National University of Education's grounds starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Organized by the Seocho 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, the festival is in its fourth year as a signature neighborhood event, drawing an expected crowd of around 1,000 children, parents and local residents. The event is designed to give families and neighbors a chance to enjoy cultural and hands-on programs together and foster community connection.
The festival runs in two parts: the first features hands-on activities and play programs, while the second centers on an outdoor film screening. The first part offers activity booths and play spaces open to all ages — highlights include keycap keyring crafting, caricature drawing, pinwheel decorating and sock-yarn bracelet making, alongside bouncy castles, sketchbook stations, ball games and traditional Korean games to keep younger visitors entertained.
Food stalls selling tteokbokki, Korean pancakes and fish cake skewers will also be set up, along with a relaxation area furnished with beanbag chairs and picnic mats so visitors can unwind and enjoy the festival at their own pace.
The second part brings back the outdoor film screening, the festival's most popular annual draw. This year's selection is the animated film "Elemental," giving families a chance to spread out picnic mats on the field and watch the movie under the stars. Organizers hope the cool autumn evening will make for a memorable night for the whole family.
Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said he hopes the festival will give children "the joy of exciting play and hands-on experiences" while offering adults "a relaxed evening with family, soaking in the mood of an autumn night."
