Hyundai Engineering & Construction has developed an allergy care solution that manages indoor air quality and adjusts ventilation levels by room.

Hyundai E&C announced Monday that the solution combines a high-performance total heat exchanger with a room-by-room ventilation system. The residential technology is designed to reduce common allergy triggers and maintain indoor air quality.

The high-performance heat exchanger incorporates two key technologies: electrostatic spray, which electrolyzes moisture in the air to eliminate airborne bacteria, and photoionization, which uses a reaction between a specific light source and a photocatalyst to reduce harmful gases.

According to Hyundai E&C, the electrostatic spray technology can reduce airborne bacteria by up to 99 percent, while the photoionization technology can cut harmful gases by up to 96 percent. Both technologies have been certified by accredited institutions including Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) and Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL).

The room-by-room ventilation system allows users to select which space they want to ventilate, directing a concentrated supply of fresh air to that area.

The system achieves rapid ventilation at six or more air changes per hour — well above the legally required standard of 0.5 changes per hour — enabling quick air turnover in spaces such as kitchens and children's rooms.

Hyundai E&C plans to integrate smart operating functions for the allergy care solution into its residential platform applications, My Hills and My DH. The feature will analyze indoor air quality data to configure operating modes and provide users with room-by-room air quality information and device status updates.

An automatic ventilation function that responds to indoor environmental conditions will also be added, and the company plans to finalize product specifications and application standards for specific complexes going forward.

"As environment-related illnesses increase and attention to indoor air quality grows, the importance of residential technology that systematically manages the indoor environment is rising," an official at the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute said. "We will continue developing technology to support the health and lifestyle convenience of residents."

Meanwhile, Hyundai E&C was selected as the contractor for the Mokdong Complex 10 reconstruction project at a general meeting held Oct. 18.
