Seocho-gu in Seoul will host the 2026 Seoil Starlight Festival at Seoul National University of Education's athletic field starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, the district announced Monday.
Now in its fourth year, the festival is organized by the Seocho 1-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee and is expected to draw about 1,000 attendees, including children, parents and local residents. The event is designed to give families and neighbors a chance to enjoy cultural and hands-on programs together and foster community bonds.
The festival is divided into two parts: a first half featuring hands-on activities and play programs, and a second half centered on an outdoor film screening.
The first half will offer a range of craft and activity stations — visitors can make keycap keyrings, get caricatures drawn, decorate pinwheels and create sock-yarn bracelets. Children's entertainment will include bounce houses, a sketching corner, ball games and traditional Korean games.
Food stalls selling tteokbokki, Korean pancakes and fish cake will be set up alongside a relaxation area furnished with bean bag chairs and picnic mats, so visitors can unwind and enjoy the festival at their own pace.
The second half will feature an outdoor screening of the animated film "Elemental." Attendees are invited to spread out picnic mats on the field and watch the film under the stars, with organizers hoping the cool autumn evening will give families a memorable night out together.
Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said he hoped the festival would give children the joy of play and hands-on experiences, while offering adults a relaxed autumn evening to spend with their families.
