The Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation in North Gyeongsang Province will hold a "Yeongdeok Dessert Pop-up Day" at two local cafes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, the foundation announced Tuesday.
The event is part of the "2026 Yeongdeok Signature Dessert Development Project," aimed at creating differentiated dessert products using local specialty ingredients and strengthening the competitiveness of area cafes.
The event draws attention for its collaboration between local cafes and chefs who have appeared on Culinary Class Wars, the Netflix cooking competition show.
Kaka Bakery in Yeongdeok-eup is partnering with Chef Jeong Woo-yeong to present peach, shine muscat and apple pies, as well as fruit glutinous rice cakes made with locally grown fruit.
Cafe Mingmori in Yeonghae-myeon has teamed up with Chef Jang Han-i to develop three varieties of financiers — peach, cherry and apple — which will be introduced to visitors at the event.
The chefs involved in developing the desserts will visit their respective partner cafes in person on Saturday. Visitors will be able to sample the newly developed desserts on-site and experience the results of the collaboration between the professional chefs and local cafes.
"We pursued this project to develop differentiated desserts unique to Yeongdeok's local cafes using the region's specialty ingredients, and to grow them into new tourism content," a foundation official said. "We hope visitors will discover the new flavors and charm of Yeongdeok through the desserts created together by professional chefs and local cafes."
