Deal worth 1.94 billion won to bring AI water plant operations to Hanoi's Song Duong treatment facility
Local water firm and water supply association to partner on broader infrastructure expansion
Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) signed a contract Thursday with local operator Song Duong JSC to introduce AI-based water treatment operations technology at the Song Duong water treatment plant in Hanoi, Vietnam, the state utility announced Tuesday.
The deal marks K-water's second AI water plant technology export to Vietnam, following a contract signed in April for the Ken Dong water treatment plant in Ho Chi Minh City.
The project will unfold in three phases at a total value of about 1.94 billion won ($1.46 million). The Song Duong plant, which has a daily production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters, will progressively expand the scope of AI technology applied to its operations.
The AI water plant system analyzes water quality and flow data in real time and optimizes the treatment process, predicting and controlling the appropriate dosages of coagulants and chlorine in response to changes in raw water quality and conditions.
The AI water plant technology, which the World Economic Forum has designated a "Global Lighthouse," recently passed the official ballot for a draft international standard (DIS stage) at ISO, putting it on track for full international standardization by 2027.
"This second AI water plant technology export confirms the continued potential for our water technology to expand overseas — from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi," said Han Seong-yong, head of K-water's green infrastructure division. "We will combine world-class technology with local networks to steadily advance the global spread of K-water technology."
