A bakery in South Korea has drawn attention online after posting a hygiene notice written entirely in Chinese, warning customers not to touch the bread with their bare hands.
The post, titled "A bakery cafe that wrote its notice only in Chinese," appeared on the online community Bobae Dream on Sunday along with a photograph.
The photo shows a sign in Chinese placed at the center of a bread display. While the names of the items — including sweet pumpkin chiffon cake — and their prices are written in hangul, the hygiene notice is in Chinese only.
The sign reads: "For food hygiene and safety, please use tongs and a tray when picking up bread. Touching items directly with your hands is strictly prohibited. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
The line prohibiting direct contact with bare hands is highlighted in red.
One commenter said the bakery must have had good reason to put up a Chinese-language notice, writing "no wonder." Another said they had printed and posted a similar Chinese-language sign at their mother's shop, sharing a comparable experience.
