District mayor orders minimal disruption for residents, open-access policy at new building
Seoul's Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon chaired his first senior staff meeting Tuesday in the Future Strategy Conference Room on the third floor of the new Magok integrated district office, calling for a resident-centered "open" facility.
Jin's first order of business was to minimize any inconvenience residents might experience following the relocation to the new building.
"All departments have completed their moves, but the office is still in a settling-in phase, which means residents may run into difficulties," he said. "Please make every effort to manage the building so that visitors experience no inconvenience."
He said staff should view the facility through residents' eyes rather than from the district office's own perspective and address any shortcomings. "Look carefully at everything — from directional signage that makes it easy to find each department, to parking, to how services are processed," he said.
Jin also called for an open-access policy that would bring residents into the building. "When events are held, make active use of available spaces inside the office, including multipurpose rooms," he said. "During off-hours, open those spaces for resident education programs and meetings of professional associations."
About 10 department and bureau chiefs joined Jin at the meeting, sharing updates on key projects and discussing the direction of future initiatives.
