Hyundai Motor Group said Wednesday it will showcase hydrogen commercial mobility technology at the World Hydrogen Expo 2026 (WHE 2026), to be held at KINTEX Hall 2 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from Nov. 4 to 6.
Now in its seventh edition, WHE combines an industry exhibition with an international conference. The event brings together companies, government officials and academics from home and abroad to share hydrogen technology and business opportunities and explore avenues for cooperation through exhibitions, a global conference and a business partnership fair. This year, more than 190 companies and organizations from 11 countries are expected to participate.
Hyundai Motor Group will make the public debut of a commercial hydrogen fuel cell system with improved durability, developed to meet the demands of commercial vehicles, which typically operate for longer hours, cover greater distances and carry heavier loads than passenger cars.
The group will also give the first demonstration of a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle auto-charging robot, showing it refuel a street-cleaning truck. Hyundai Motor Group said it expects the robot to improve driver convenience and charging station efficiency through unmanned, round-the-clock operation.
Also on display will be BlueLink Uptime Care, a fleet management solution that monitors the operating status, key component conditions and any anomalies of hydrogen commercial vehicles in real time.
Hyundai Motor Group will unveil the Elec City hydrogen low-floor intercity bus, currently under development to improve accessibility for passengers with mobility needs, including wheelchair users. Low-floor intercity buses are set to become mandatory in 2027 under the Act on Promotion of the Transportation Convenience of Mobility Disadvantaged Persons. Visitors will be able to board the bus and experience its interior, including the low-floor structure.
The group will also run test-ride programs for an upgraded model of the Universe hydrogen electric bus, used as a highway coach, and the new Xcient hydrogen electric truck, giving visitors a firsthand feel for hydrogen commercial vehicles on the road.
"We plan to enhance customer convenience across the entire process — from operation and maintenance to refueling — through a commercial hydrogen fuel cell system with improved durability, data-based vehicle management and hydrogen charging automation," a Hyundai Motor Group official said. "We will work to establish hydrogen commercial vehicles as a trusted choice on actual transport routes."
On the opening day, Nov. 4, a global leadership conference called "Leadership Insight" will be held with key figures from government, industry and finance. Ivana Jemelkova, CEO of the Hydrogen Council, will present on the progress of global hydrogen projects and the investment outlook. A panel discussion will follow, with Hyundai Motor Group and other domestic hydrogen companies set to discuss ways to boost project investment and strengthen international cooperation.
Meanwhile, cumulative domestic sales of Hyundai Motor's hydrogen electric vehicles surpassed 50,000 units — reaching 50,262 — last month, eight years after the launch of the Nexo, its dedicated hydrogen electric vehicle model, in 2018.
