Samsung C&T posts W1.14tr operating profit in Q3, up 15%

Samsung C&T posted double-digit growth in both sales and operating profit in the third quarter, driven by broad-based gains across all business divisions.

The company reported third-quarter sales of 12.01 trillion won ($9.07 billion) and operating profit of 1.14 trillion won on Wednesday, up 18.3 percent and 15 percent, respectively, from the same period a year earlier.

The construction division saw sales climb 44.5 percent year-on-year to 4.46 trillion won, while operating profit surged 149 percent to 277 billion won, as major projects moved into full execution.

The trading division also performed well, with sales rising 8.1 percent to 4.2 trillion won and operating profit growing 30 percent to 99 billion won, supported by expanded trading margins in essential industrial materials.

The fashion division recorded sales of 498 billion won and operating profit of 20 billion won, up 11.9 percent and 66.7 percent, respectively, as key products from flagship brands sold strongly despite the seasonal off-peak period.

The resort division continued its growth trajectory through expansion of its food and beverage business — including institutional catering and food ingredient distribution — alongside improved operational efficiency, posting sales of 115 billion won and operating profit of 85 billion won.
