Law firms Daeryuk Aju and Lin have signed an AI compliance MOU with Deloitte Anjin.

The three firms announced Wednesday that they signed the agreement at a conference room on the 20th floor of Donghun Tower on Teheran-ro in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to support corporate AI compliance certification and the advancement of management frameworks.

Key areas of cooperation include AI compliance and governance framework assessment, development of certification criteria based on objective evaluation standards, advisory service development for domestic and international AI-related laws and regulations, AI risk diagnosis and internal control enhancement, establishment of responsible AI policies and operating frameworks, and response to privacy, security and intellectual property risks arising from AI use. The firms also plan to conduct joint research on AI regulation and industry trends and hold joint seminars.

In addition, the firms plan to build an integrated diagnostic and certification framework that proactively addresses changes in AI regulations at home and abroad, and to continuously develop customized service models that reflect industry-specific characteristics and each company's level of AI adoption.

"As AI-related regulations are rapidly taking shape, corporate responses are expanding beyond simple legal review to encompass the establishment of organization-wide management systems," said Managing Partner Lee Gyu-cheol of Daeryuk Aju. "We expect to deliver more practical and actionable AI compliance services to customers by combining Daeryuk Aju's legal expertise with Deloitte Anjin's AI and risk management capabilities."

Lim Jin-seok, managing partner of Lin, said future corporate competitiveness will hinge on how reliably and responsibly companies operate AI. "AI compliance certification can go beyond being a regulatory response tool to become a new standard for earning trust from customers and the market," Lim said.

Gil Gi-wan, CEO of Deloitte Anjin, said AI is a core driver of corporate productivity and innovation but at the same time brings a range of legal, regulatory and ethical issues. "Through this collaboration, we will help companies use AI more safely and responsibly, and contribute to establishing the new governance frameworks that the AI era demands," Gil said.

Meanwhile, the three firms recently launched the AI Compliance Certification program, known as AICC, which closely examines the state of corporate AI compliance and grants accreditation to companies that meet objective standards.

A Daeryuk Aju official said the AICC is expected to help companies secure the stability of their AI systems, much as the firm's Serious Accidents Punishment Act compliance certification program — the only such program run by a law firm — has contributed to preventing serious workplace accidents.
