National investigator training held Thursday–Friday
The Korea Coast Guard announced Thursday it will hold a two-day national training session for about 200 investigators through Friday to strengthen investigative capabilities.
The training was organized in response to the rapidly shifting investigative environment following the overhaul of the criminal justice system on Oct. 2, with the aim of improving fairness, speed and expertise in maritime investigations. Participants will examine key issues under the revised Code of Criminal Procedure and share best practices from the field, with discussions tailored to the distinct nature of maritime investigations.
Korea Coast Guard Commissioner Ha Man-sik also attended the training Thursday to recognize the efforts of frontline investigators. "We must continuously strengthen our investigative capabilities so we can actively respond to the changed system and environment," Ha said, urging investigators to "uphold principles without wavering, protect the rights of the public, and build a maritime police investigation that the public can trust."
