Daegu's Seo-gu completes forest recreation complex on Waryongsan

Daegu's Seo-gu district has completed a forest recreation complex on Waryongsan, unveiling its centerpiece facility — a 180-meter elevated walkway known as the Forest Sky Rest Area.

The district announced Friday that it had developed the forest recreation complex in the Sangni-dong area of Waryongsan to give residents a space for nature experiences, rest and leisure.

The project was carried out on a 13-hectare site near Gareubaengi Neighborhood Park, with eight core facilities built while minimizing damage to the natural environment.

Key facilities include two public parking lots with a combined 106 spaces, a wildflower garden, a 30-meter suspension bridge and the 180-meter sky walkway. A forest playground and nature experience area for children and teenagers were also established.

The sky walkway lets visitors stroll above the treetops and experience Waryongsan's natural scenery and seasonal changes up close, and is expected to become a new recreational destination in the heart of the city.

Seo-gu plans to work with the Southern Regional Office of the Korea Forest Service through December to pursue official registration as an infant forest experience center, followed by a pilot operation in the first half of 2027 before deploying specialist staff, including certified infant forest instructors. The district intends to run tailored forest experience programs afterward to help children develop ecological awareness and creativity.
