Vehicle SW unit squeezed by tariffs, geopolitical risks
Hyundai Autoever reported Friday that its third-quarter operating profit fell 2.6 percent from a year earlier to 68.9 billion won ($51.6 million).
The company posted third-quarter sales of 1.22 trillion won alongside the 68.9 billion won operating profit. Sales rose 16.2 percent from 1.05 trillion won in the same period last year.
On a cumulative basis through the third quarter, sales grew 16.4 percent to 3.41 trillion won from 2.93 trillion won, while operating profit edged up 1.0 percent to 180.6 billion won from 178.8 billion won.
Breaking down results by business segment, the enterprise IT division — which covers systems integration and IT outsourcing — posted third-quarter sales of 1.02 trillion won, up 19.7 percent on-year. The company said growth continued as customers accelerated their digital transformation efforts, including cloud adoption and next-generation enterprise resource planning system migrations.
The vehicle software segment recorded sales of 199.9 billion won, a 0.8 percent increase, though profitability declined due to US tariffs and geopolitical risks. Hyundai Autoever said it plans to improve margins through operational efficiency and identify new business opportunities.
Overseas subsidiaries posted broad-based sales growth across major regions including the Americas, Europe, India and China. The company attributed the gains to expanded global IT investment by customers and a growing subscriber base for its connected car services.
