Nowon-gu district mayor joins 2026 Nowon Math Festival

Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the 2026 Nowon Math Festival at the Nowon Mathematics Culture Center on Saturday, encouraging students and organizers and meeting with local residents.

The festival, co-hosted by Nowon-gu and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, is a signature local education and culture event bringing together schools, universities and specialized institutions to make mathematical concepts accessible and engaging.

The venue featured 62 hands-on math booths run by schools, universities and professional organizations, offering programs ranging from play-based activities built around mathematical principles to convergence experiences incorporating advanced technologies such as AI and autonomous driving.

Additional highlights included a "Math Golden Bell" quiz challenge, special lectures, celebratory performances and family participation events that added to the festival's variety.

"I am grateful to all the residents who came out to the Mathematics Culture Center with their children on the weekend," Seo said. "We will continue to expand diverse education programs so that students can experience mathematics not as a difficult, rigid subject but as an enjoyable part of everyday life."
