9th 'Fun Station' opens at Line 9's Sinmokdong Station
Changing rooms, lockers for runners
Six-bay indoor screen park golf course also available
10th location to open at Mongchontoseong Station in November
The Seoul Metropolitan Government opened the ninth "Fun Station" at Sinmokdong Station on Line 9 on Sept. 30, offering a combined running support and indoor park golf facility. The Fun Station program converts underused spaces inside subway stations into venues for sports, culture and leisure.
The new facility occupies a previously unused area on the first below-ground floor near exits 1 and 2. It provides amenities for runners who use the riverside trail along Anyangcheon, as well as an indoor space where visitors can practice park golf regardless of the weather.
The runner support area spans 213 square meters and includes three changing rooms each for men and women, 14 lockers per side, and a six-bay screen park golf course. The space and changing rooms are free to use; locker rentals start at 3,000 won for four hours. A vending machine stocked with shower wipes, energy gels and similar items is also available.
The screen park golf course covers 228 square meters and operates from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. A round of 18 holes costs 6,000 won. Free introductory lessons for beginners and programs for socially vulnerable groups are also planned.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will manage the runner support area, while Leisure-ro Park Golf, a specialist operator, will run the golf course and handle experience, practice and lesson programs. Group lessons and club programs are also in the works.
Seoul has built Fun Stations at Yeouinaru, Ttukseom, Meokgol, Gwanghwamun, World Cup Stadium, Hoehyeon, City Hall and Munjeong stations since launching the program at Yeouinaru Station in 2024.
The city plans to open a 10th facility at Mongchontoseong Station and then roll out additional Fun Stations at Magoknauru, Jungye and Achasan stations in sequence.
Ahn Dae-hee, Seoul's director of future space planning, said the Sinmokdong Station Fun Station "connects the outdoor running environment along Anyangcheon with indoor exercise facilities inside a subway station," adding that the city intends to expand the concept to all 25 autonomous districts by tailoring each location to its neighborhood's character.
