Patented skin health strain HY7714 powers proprietary ingredient COREBiODERM
Hy announced Monday the launch of IOCell, a wellness beauty brand, along with five skincare products.
The line centers on COREBiODERM, a proprietary cosmetics ingredient derived from HY7714 (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum HY7714), a skin-health probiotic strain developed in-house by hy through strain selection, cultivation and fermentation technology. The company said cell and human-application tests confirmed the ingredient's skin-improvement effects on its own. Microbiome research also showed an increase in key resident skin bacteria after product use.
The five-product lineup comprises the Skin Barrier Origin, Freeze-Dried Boosting Serum, Peptide Lifting Cream, Dual Protector Sun Serum and Pore Care Mask. COREBiODERM is incorporated across all five products, and finished-product human-application tests verified their efficacy and safety.
The flagship product, the IOCell COREBiODERM Skin Barrier Origin, is a concentrate containing 95 percent Lactobacillus ferment from COREBiODERM. Human-application tests showed a 16.5 percent improvement in skin moisture indicators and a 10.1 percent improvement in barrier-related indicators after four weeks of use. Even one week after discontinuing use following the four-week period, skin moisture and barrier indicators remained above pre-use levels.
The Freeze-Dried Boosting Serum targets skin texture improvement and radiance. The Peptide Lifting Cream supports hydration, elasticity and lifting of the forehead, nasolabial folds and cheeks. The Dual Protector Sun Serum offers UV protection alongside redness-calming and fine-dust adhesion prevention. The Pore Care Mask addresses redness and barrier damage caused by external irritants while helping manage sebum and oil levels.
HY7714 is an individually recognized probiotic strain approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its potential to support skin health by maintaining moisture and protecting against UV-induced skin damage. This year, the strain was named ingredient of the year in the inner beauty category at the NutraIngredients USA Awards.
"We focused not only on the core ingredient but also on securing objective data to support the efficacy of each product, drawing on research into the gut-skin axis — the interaction between the gut and the skin," said Lee Hu-chan, head of hy's digital counselor team.
