Samyang Group announces executive reshuffle, names new business group heads

Samyang Group announced Monday it had carried out its regular executive reshuffle, centered on the appointment of two new business group heads.

Executive Vice President Kim Ji-seop was promoted to head of the Staff Group at Samyang Holdings, concurrently serving as head of the finance division to lead the holding company. Born in 1961, Kim joined Samyang in 1988 and built a career as a finance specialist, serving as head of the secretarial team and accounting team before being promoted to executive vice president in 2019 and serving as head of the finance division at Samyang Holdings. The group said Kim was appointed to strengthen compliance culture and financial capabilities.

Um Tae-ung, who joined the company in 1983 and spent 43 years with Samyang Group, is stepping down from active management with this reshuffle. Um decided to retire after concluding that the acquisition of a Japanese flavoring company in June had laid the groundwork for expanding the specialty food business.

Jeong Ji-seok was named the next head of the Food Group at Samyang. Born in 1971, Jeong joined Samyang in 1995 and has served as head of the food marketing team, marketing director, HRC head and food business unit head. Jeong was recognized for stabilizing the organization this year by concurrently serving as acting food group head and food business unit head, both of which had been vacant.
