Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province will offer an additional 5% cashback to users of the Sangju local currency through Nov. 15, the city announced Monday, as part of efforts to boost local spending during the Korea Grand Festival period.
The promotion adds 5 percentage points on top of the standard 12% cashback applied to Sangju currency card payments.
When combined with an ongoing 5% extra cashback program for businesses registered under the city's "good price" designation, users can receive up to 22% in total benefits.
Sangju said the additional cashback event is expected to increase tangible benefits for residents while driving local consumption and helping boost sales for small business owners in neighborhood commercial districts and traditional markets.
"We hope the Korea Grand Festival will create a virtuous cycle in which residents enjoy the extra benefits of Sangju currency and that spending flows back to local small businesses," Sangju Mayor An Jae-min said.
