Suspect arrested after stabbing psychiatry professor at Severance Hospital in Seoul

A psychiatry professor was injured in a stabbing at Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

The Seodaemun Police Station said Wednesday it arrested a suspect on aggravated assault charges after the suspect stabbed a psychiatry professor at the hospital at around 4:30 p.m. that day.

The professor sustained a laceration approximately 5 centimeters long and was taken to the emergency room for treatment.

The suspect, believed to be in their 50s, was not a patient waiting for an appointment at the time, police said.

Police are investigating the motive and full circumstances of the attack.
