Noh Yong-woo named CEO designate of Digital X
Information security division elevated to strengthen financial security
AI, digital and security specialists make up 20% of promotions
Mirae Asset Group has reorganized its structure and reshuffled its executive ranks, centering the changes on AI, digital transformation and financial security.
The moves are designed to extend the group's "Mirae Asset 3.0" strategy across all business lines and accelerate its shift toward a technology-driven global financial platform. The group named Executive Vice President Noh Yong-woo as CEO designate of Digital X, the subsidiary that will spearhead its digital asset business. The group announced the restructuring and personnel changes Thursday, noting that it placed particular weight on strengthening technology leadership — AI transformation, digital and information security specialists account for 20 percent of all promoted executives.
The group also bolstered its financial security framework, elevating the status of its information security division and reinforcing its capacity to detect vulnerabilities and respond to real-world threats. The aim is to raise the level of protection for customer assets and personal data as financial security threats grow more sophisticated.
The appointment of Noh is part of a broader effort to expand the intersection of digital assets and traditional finance. Noh's formal appointment is subject to Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) approval of the CEO change notification and a shareholder vote. The group said it expects Noh, drawing on experience in management innovation, risk management and digital asset regulatory reform, to generate business synergies between traditional finance and digital assets.
The group also appointed Mirae Asset Global Investments Executive Director Woo Shin-je as CEO of Energy Infrastructure Asset Management. Woo will be tasked with expanding the firm's investment scope into renewable energy generation, power grids, energy storage systems (ESS) and power infrastructure for AI data centers.
The reshuffle also broadened representation by generation and gender. Among all promoted executives at home and abroad, those in their 40s account for 64 percent and women 17 percent. The group said 30 percent of all promoted executives are frontline leaders in wealth management and pension sales, reflecting its focus on strengthening customer-centered asset management.
Mirae Asset Group said it plans to embed AI and digital technology across the group and sharpen its competitiveness as a global investment platform spanning both traditional and digital assets.
The group has been pushing to expand its footprint. It recently announced the acquisition of Japan's Sanko Securities, through which Mirae Asset Securities plans to launch a full-scale retail business in Japan. Mirae Asset Securities disclosed Wednesday that its board had resolved to have its US subsidiary, Mirae Asset Security Holdings, acquire 100 percent of the shares issued by Sanko Securities and to make a capital contribution to Mirae Asset Security Holdings for that purpose — meaning the acquisition will be carried out through the US subsidiary.
