Samsung Display unveils world-first 4K/360Hz QD-OLED at Computex 2026

Samsung Display is making a major push into the premium gaming display market at Computex 2026, Asia's largest IT trade show, unveiling a broad lineup of gaming OLED and QD-OLED products. The company is showcasing 16 products in total — ranging from an 8.8-inch panel for handheld gaming PCs to a 49-inch QD-OLED monitor — and said the range demonstrates its commanding technology lead.

Samsung Display announced Sunday that it will participate in Computex 2026, running Tuesday through Friday at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan, where it will present new OLED technologies for laptops and next-generation QD-OLED products.

Among the highlights is the world premiere of an "ultra-slim" OLED panel for laptops, more than 20 percent thinner than the company's current mass-production panels. Samsung Display said it achieved the reduction by redesigning the panel structure, giving device makers greater freedom in product design and improving portability — while retaining true-black reproduction and fast response performance.

In gaming monitors, Samsung Display is debuting what it says is the world's first QD-OLED panel to simultaneously deliver 4K resolution and a 360Hz refresh rate. While monitors supporting either 4K or refresh rates of 360Hz or above have existed separately, the company said no one had combined both specifications in a single panel before. Samsung Display said it overcame the technical barriers involved by optimizing the panel circuitry and drive system.

The company is also showcasing "QD-OLED Penta Tandem," a next-generation technology first revealed earlier this year. Penta Tandem increases the stacked layers of blue OLED from four to five and incorporates the latest organic materials, substantially improving the efficiency, lifespan and brightness of QD-OLED panels.

The booth will also feature hands-on gaming zones using a variety of game content, as the industry accelerates its shift from LCD to OLED in the high-performance gaming segment. Visitors can play a shooting game on a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate, or try an experience-based game designed to highlight OLED's low-grayscale expression and color accuracy. Samsung Display will also debut a mini game it developed in-house using AI, designed to give visitors an intuitive sense of how OLED performance differs in a gaming environment.

"The paradigm of the high-end gaming display market has already shifted from LCD to self-luminous displays," said Son Dong-il, executive vice president and head of Samsung Display's large display business division. "We will be the first to introduce technologies that deepen gamer immersion and continue driving innovation in the experience."
