Hanwha attends Shangri-La Dialogue, discusses AI and advanced technology cooperation

Hanwha said Sunday it participated in the 23rd IISS Asia Security Summit, known as the Shangri-La Dialogue, held in Singapore from May 29 to 31.

At the forum, Hanwha held bilateral meetings with senior government officials from the United States, the United Kingdom and other major nations. The company also met with leading defense firms at the executive level to discuss AI and advanced technology cooperation, as well as ways to share defense capabilities.

The Shangri-La Dialogue is the region's largest multilateral security forum, bringing together defense ministers, senior military officials and security experts from across the Asia-Pacific.

The South Korean government used the summit to outline its vision of strengthening self-reliant national defense through advanced technologies — including AI-based detection and strike systems, manned-unmanned combined combat platforms, and cyber and space capabilities — while pursuing multidimensional security cooperation with the international community.

Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-baek met separately on May 30 and 31 with delegations from the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives to discuss security conditions on the Korean Peninsula and alliance issues.

In line with the government's direction, Hanwha said it plans to contribute to security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region by leveraging its defense capabilities in land and naval domains alongside AI and advanced technologies, while expanding defense and technology cooperation with allied nations.
