Man uses excavator to demolish home after wife announces divorce, family inside

A man in his late 40s was arrested in the United States after driving an excavator into his own home following his wife's announcement that she wanted a divorce.

According to the New York Post, CBS and other outlets, Eric Pierbsha, 48, of Butler County, Pennsylvania, got into an argument with his wife while intoxicated.

When his wife told him "the marriage is over," Pierbsha reportedly responded that he would tear the house down.

He then drove an excavator to the property and began demolishing the rear walls and structure of the home.

His wife and two daughters were inside at the time. Local media reported that as his wife called 911, dispatchers could hear the excavator destroying the house in the background.

Investigators said the damage may have severely compromised the structural integrity of the entire building.

After the attack, Pierbsha re-entered the house, grabbed a gym bag and fled the scene, but was later arrested.

He now faces charges of causing a catastrophe, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
