Lee Ki-jae Pulls Out All the Stops on Final Day of Campaigning: 'Yangcheon's Development Must Be Completed'

Lee Ki-jae, the People Power Party candidate for Yangcheon-gu district chief, spent the final day of campaigning Tuesday — the day before the vote — canvassing the entire district until the last permitted moment, vowing to meet as many residents as possible before polls opened.

That afternoon, Seoul mayor candidate Oh Se-hoon joined the push, visiting Singok Market in Sinwol-dong to greet residents before boarding a campaign vehicle with Lee to tour Yangcheon-gu and engage with voters on the ground.

Addressing the Mokdong Line transit project — the top concern for Sinwol-dong residents — Lee said the proposed "T-shaped route" was a realistic alternative that could improve economic viability, adding that experts had endorsed its necessity. "This is not a political slogan but a feasible redesign that will clear the preliminary feasibility study and usher in a rail era for Sinwol-dong," he said.

Lee also credited Oh's "Fast-Track Integrated Planning" policy with accelerating reconstruction and redevelopment projects across Yangcheon-gu, and said close coordination between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the district office would be essential to see the follow-up procedures through without a hitch.

He went on to say that both Oh and he needed to win for the district's transformative projects — reconstruction and redevelopment, urban rail and corporate infrastructure — to be carried through without wavering. "Only by electing Oh Se-hoon as Seoul mayor and Lee Ki-jae as Yangcheon-gu district chief together can we complete the key projects that will change Yangcheon's future," he said.

Oh, for his part, warned against reverting to past policies that had made life harder for ordinary residents, including on housing. "We cannot turn Seoul into a practice ground for a first-time driver," he said.

He then pledged to complete Yangcheon-gu's development alongside Lee, who he said had driven the district's transformation over the past four years, and urged residents to back both candidates by an overwhelming margin.
