Tving hit by data breach exposing member IDs, names and contact details

Streaming platform Tving confirmed that some members' personal information was exposed through unauthorized external access. The company said it has tightened security measures and begun monitoring since discovering the breach, and that it will cooperate with investigations by relevant authorities.

Tving disclosed the breach Tuesday in a notice posted on its website.

The compromised data includes member IDs, names, dates of birth, gender, phone numbers and email addresses. The exact number of affected users and the method of intrusion have not yet been made public.

Tving said it does not hold resident registration numbers or valid payment information, and that neither was among the exposed data.

However, the company urged users who share the same account credentials across multiple services to change their passwords as a precaution against further harm. The measure is intended to prevent the leaked credentials from being used in login attempts on other platforms.

"We sincerely apologize to our customers for the concern caused by this security incident," a Tving official said. "We are carefully examining the cause of the incident and its scope, while at the same time making customer protection our top priority. We will transparently disclose confirmed facts as they become available." The official added that the company would cooperate fully with government and regulatory investigations and do its utmost to prevent a recurrence.

Tving said it would provide separate guidance on remedies and follow-up measures at a later date.
