'Don't let the worst rule you': Lee urges voters to the polls on local election day

President Lee Jae Myung urged citizens to vote Tuesday, the day of the 9th nationwide local elections, invoking a quote attributed to Plato: "Have you voted so as not to be governed by the worst of scoundrels?"

Lee shared a post by Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho announcing his arrival on X, formerly Twitter, in which Jeong wrote that he was joining the platform "to communicate more with the people." Lee asked his followers to give Jeong "a massive welcome to X with your follows."

Lee had also called for voter turnout on May 31, warning that "the silence of the sovereign and the abandonment of the vote gives an opportunity to those who deceive the people, abuse power for personal gain, and ruin the lives of ordinary citizens and their families." He quoted the Platonic saying that "the price of political apathy is to be governed by the worst of scoundrels."
