Seo Gang-seok, People Power Party candidate for Songpa-gu district chief, casts ballot: 'I will wait humbly for voters' choice'

Seo Gang-seok, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul's Songpa-gu district chief, cast his ballot Wednesday, the day of the 9th National Simultaneous Local Elections.

Seo, the incumbent district chief, voted that morning alongside his wife, Seo Gyeong-ae, at Polling Station No. 7 in Wirye-dong, set up at Deoksu High School in Geoyeo-dong, Songpa-gu, near his home.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, he said, "Today is a day for us, as free democratic citizens and as members of the public, to exercise our sacred sovereignty. I urge everyone to come to the polls and make their voices heard."

He added, "Every candidate has campaigned with sincerity and effort, and we are all waiting humbly for the choice of the sovereign people. I trust that voters will make the right decision."

Earlier, after wrapping up his legally permitted campaign activities late Tuesday, Seo posted a message on social media titled "As the campaign comes to a close." He wrote that he had "competed on policy and campaign pledges, with sincerity and effort, without smear tactics or mudslinging, in keeping with democratic principles," and that he was now "waiting for the choice of Songpa-gu residents — citizens of a high caliber of free democracy."

He said that looking back on the 70-day campaign, "the support and encouragement of the sovereign residents of the district and my fellow party members have been days of gratitude far beyond what I deserve," and pledged to "work together with residents to make Songpa an even better city to live in."
