Ryu Gyu-ha wins Daegu Jung-gu district mayor race, vows to serve with humility

People Power Party candidate Ryu Gyu-ha won the Daegu Jung-gu district mayor race in the June 3 nationwide local elections.

Ryu expressed gratitude to voters Thursday, saying he would work to restore the district's sense of pride. "I will make living in Jung-gu itself the greatest blessing and source of pride anyone could have," he said.

He added that he would carry with him every word of encouragement, criticism and advice received during the campaign. "I will engrave them all deeply in my heart," he said.

Ryu pledged to revitalize the local economy and create an environment where young people can pursue their dreams and put down roots. "Bearing the weight of responsibility that comes with serving a third term as district mayor, I will approach my work with even greater humility, listen more carefully and work harder than ever," he said.
