LS Electric holds debut exhibition for artists with developmental disabilities

LS Electric announced Friday that it is hosting the debut exhibition of Green Canvas, an art group made up of artists with developmental disabilities, at Eum Gallery in Jongno-gu, Seoul, through Saturday. The show is titled "Between the Flow of Electricity."

Ten artists affiliated with Green Canvas are presenting more than 30 works in the exhibition. The centerpiece is a large collaborative piece titled "LS Electric Connected to the World," displayed at the front of the gallery. The work depicts LS Electric's headquarters, major business sites and global campuses — rendered in each artist's distinctive colors and forms — arranged along a world map.

The piece is designed as an interactive installation inviting direct participation from visitors. The lighting shines brightest when viewers stand at just the right distance from the work — neither too close nor too far. The installation is also designed so that the light expands more broadly when several people stand together, embodying the values of "respect" and "empathy." The concept draws a parallel between electrical energy, which generates light through connection, and people, who create greater hope and energy through attention and mutual understanding.

Individual works on display include "Rhythm of Primary Colors, World of Straight Lines" by Lee Hee-sung, "Garden Beyond Imagination" by Lee Hyeon-ju, "Forest Path Where Sunlight Lingers" by Yoon So-young, "Story Told by Flowers and Mountains" by Im Pu-reum, "A Day in Blue Seoul" by Ko Seong-yeol, "Song of Green Life" by Shin Seong-hwan, "Travel Across the Rainbow Sea" by Kim Min-ju, "World Made by Colors Coming Together" by Kim Yeon-jun, "Village Where Love Blooms" by Shin Ye-jin, and "House of Serenity, Tree of Rest" by Han Hye-min.

Choi Gyu-tae, chief human resources officer at LS Electric, said he hopes the exhibition will serve as an opportunity to share the dreams and potential of artists with disabilities with a wider audience, just as electricity illuminates and connects the world. "We will continue to expand employment for people with disabilities and support stable creative activities, building a corporate culture where anyone can connect with society and grow through their own talents," he said.

Meanwhile, LS Electric has been working to expand employment for people with disabilities and improve public awareness through initiatives including the founding of Green Voice, a choir made up of artists with developmental disabilities, and the establishment of Green Canvas for artists with severe developmental disabilities.
