'Humanities on the Road' and 'School of Wisdom' to offer lectures, hands-on activities and field trips for families
Ulsan Library has been selected for two 2026 humanities grant programs — "Humanities on the Road" and "School of Wisdom" — organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and administered by the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service and the Korean Library Association. Both programs aim to help participants reflect on the meaning and value of life through lectures, hands-on activities and field trips.
The library's entry in the "Humanities on the Road" category, titled "Garden Humanities: A Walk Through Sound," is a family-oriented program centered on Taehwagang National Garden that weaves together nature, art and the humanities.
The 10-session course combines garden exploration, sound-collecting activities and art appreciation, giving families a sensory experience of the garden while creating space for communication and personal reflection.
Under the "School of Wisdom" program, the library will offer "End of the Day — Meeting Myself Through Music and Film," a 12-session Wednesday evening humanities series tied to the national "Culture Day" initiative. Using film and music as entry points, the program invites participants to reflect on modern life and emotions. It is designed especially for residents whose days are filled with work and childcare, giving them an evening at the library to engage with the arts and look inward.
A library official said the selection of both programs would allow the library to offer residents humanities programming that uses nature and art as a gateway to rediscovering the meaning of life, and expressed hope for strong public participation.
