Paik Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, is returning to YouTube after roughly a year away.
The Born Korea announced Friday that Paik will resume content activity on his YouTube channel "백종원 PAIK JONG WON," more than a year after he stepped back from public activities last May.
Through the channel, Paik plans to focus on cooking content, introducing Korean food culture and hansik recipes to both domestic and international viewers in an accessible and entertaining way.
His first video back features "Yori Bisaek," the cooking program that has long been a fan favorite on the channel. The debut recipe is a soy sauce cold noodle dish, timed to the early onset of summer heat.
"Paik Jong-won's YouTube will return to its roots and focus solely on cooking content, contributing to the popularization and global spread of hansik and to mutual growth through the use of local ingredients," a company official said. "Content related to the company that had been mixed into the existing channel will be strictly separated and introduced through the 'TBK' and 'Theborn NOW' channels, where it more appropriately belongs."
Going forward, the channel will air the flagship cooking series "Yori Bisaek" alongside a segment subtitled "K-Vibe," which will present hansik recipes and cooking techniques that international viewers can easily follow, furthering the global reach of Korean cuisine.
In addition, the popular segment "Naekkeona Meogeo" will return as season 2. The new season will focus on supporting franchise store owners, spotlighting the process of developing region-exclusive menu items using local specialty ingredients and launching new stores.
