Worker in his 40s dies after being trapped in freight elevator in Goyang

A man in his 40s died after being trapped in a freight elevator he was servicing in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Police said emergency services received a call at around 2:32 p.m. Wednesday reporting that a worker identified only as A had become trapped in a freight elevator at an arcade game machine manufacturer in Janghang-dong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang.

A was transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest but was pronounced dead.

A, an employee of an elevator company, was replacing a door motor on the freight elevator when the accident occurred, police said.

Police are questioning workers and others at the scene to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
