Kyungil University hosts special lecture by Olympic curling medalist Kim Young-mi

Kyungil University's Career Plus Center held a lecture Monday as part of its "2026 Academic Year Working Professional Relay Career Talk" series, drawing more than 100 students to the auditorium in Building 5 on campus.

The guest speaker was Kim Young-mi, a coach at the Uiseong Elementary School curling program and a member of the South Korean women's curling team that won a silver medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Kim shared stories of challenge and growth drawn from her career as an athlete, coach and commentator.

Students used a question-and-answer session to discuss career planning, goal-setting and overcoming setbacks with the coach.

"I have kept pushing and trying new things, driven by the desire to do better and improve, and that is how I found what works for me," Kim said. "In any challenge, the process matters more than the outcome — if you never try, nothing will ever happen."
