Lee Ji-hye says YouTube earnings of 12 million won a month have made her husband treat her 'like a boss'

Broadcaster Lee Ji-hye, best known as a former member of the girl group S#arp, has drawn attention after revealing that her husband Moon Jae-wan's attitude toward her changed after her YouTube channel took off. Lee has previously said she earns more than 36 million won (about $23,600) from YouTube over any given three-month period.

A new video titled "The secret behind US-based cooking YouTuber 'Foodygen' hitting 660,000 subscribers in just one year" was posted June 4 on Lee's YouTube channel "Mipji Anheun Gwanjong Eonni" (roughly, "The Attention-Seeker Sister You Can't Hate").

In the video, Lee sat down with Foodygen, a food content creator based in the United States, and the two talked about YouTube, parenting and everyday life.

When Lee asked whether people recognize Foodygen in public, the creator said, "A few people do. It still feels surreal."

Lee then asked what had changed most since starting YouTube. "My husband changed the most," Foodygen said. "He was always good to me, but after 'Foodygen' became well known, he started seeing me differently."

Lee shot back with a laugh: "Isn't it just because the numbers hitting your bank account are different?"

She went on, directing her words at Foodygen's husband: "Don't you end up treating her like someone above you? My husband treats me like his boss. If I tell him not to do something, he stops right away." The remark drew loud laughter.

Lee made headlines in 2023 when she disclosed her channel's earnings, announcing that "Mipji Anheun Gwanjong Eonni" had surpassed 820,000 subscribers and that her estimated revenue for the preceding three months came to 36,890,729 won. The channel has since grown to more than 1.03 million subscribers.
