Daegu Health College, Korea Tattoo Artists Association sign MOU to train specialists in tattooing and semi-permanent makeup

The Department of Beauty Coordination at Daegu Health College signed an industry-academic MOU with the Korea Tattoo Artists Central Association on June 4 at Room 213 of the university's Culture Hall, aimed at training specialists in tattooing and semi-permanent makeup.

The Tattoo Artists Act sets out licensing requirements, education standards, and hygiene and safety regulations for tattoo practitioners. It is scheduled to take effect in October 2027.

The two institutions reached the agreement ahead of the law's implementation to establish a framework for systematic education and professional workforce development in tattooing and semi-permanent makeup.

About 10 officials from both institutions attended the signing ceremony, including Kim Mi-jeong, head of the Department of Beauty Coordination, and Jang Yeong-a, head of the Korea Tattoo Artists Central Association's Daegu chapter.

Under the MOU, the two institutions agreed to cooperate on developing specialized curricula in tattooing and semi-permanent makeup, running practice-oriented training programs, strengthening hygiene and safety education, and exchanging information on the latest technology and industry trends.

"We will combine the university's health and beauty education capabilities with on-the-ground expertise to train professionals who can respond to changes in the industry, and contribute to building a sound industrial ecosystem," Kim said.
