The district will provide welcome kits to 900 young and middle-aged single-person households that have moved to Eunpyeong-gu, while conducting lifestyle surveys to identify welfare blind spots and connect residents with services.
Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu is launching the "Eunbit SOL Life" project, which provides "Welcome Happy Boxes" to young and middle-aged single-person households that have recently moved into the district to help them settle comfortably in their new community.
The project has been running since 2023. It was designed to support the early adjustment of newly arrived single-person households and to identify welfare blind spots by surveying their living conditions.
The program targets single-person households born between 1962 and 2007 who moved to Eunpyeong-gu on or after January 2026, with 900 spots available this year. Youth applicants may apply on a quarterly basis, while middle-aged residents can apply year-round. Second-quarter applications open June 15.
Those selected will receive a Welcome Happy Box along with a welcome card. Recipients choose one of three kit options: a tool set (pliers, screwdrivers and similar items), a daily essentials set (tissues, towels and similar items), or an emergency set (a portable fire extinguisher, a mini first-aid kit and similar items).
Youth applicants can apply online, while middle-aged applicants may apply either online or in person at their local community center. After verifying eligibility, Eunpyeong-gu will deliver the Welcome Happy Box to the applicant's registered address.
The district will also conduct a living-conditions survey as part of the application process. Officials plan to identify households at risk of housing vulnerability or social isolation and connect them with the welfare services they need.
"We are providing lifestyle support and welfare connections so that single-person households starting life in a new environment can settle comfortably in Eunpyeong-gu," district mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "We will continue to actively identify households at risk of isolation and connect them with the services they need to build a tight-knit welfare safety net."
