Daegu's Dalseo-gu opens Songhyeon Community Center

Dalseo-gu in Daegu opened the Songhyeon Community Center on Sunday, a mixed-use lifestyle facility designed to serve women, senior citizens and local residents.

The center aims to meet growing community demand for welfare, cultural and employment services, offering a space accessible to all residents. Built as part of an urban regeneration initiative, the facility is expected to serve as a neighborhood anchor and a turning point in revitalizing the local community.

The project traces its origins to the "Songhyeon-dong Deun-Deul Happy Village Development Project," which the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected for urban regeneration funding in 2019.

A total of 10.1 billion won (about $6.53 million) was invested in the complex, which sits on a 1,446-square-meter site along Apsan Sunhwan-ro 61-gil and spans two below-ground floors and four above-ground floors.

"The Songhyeon Community Center is a precious achievement shaped by the community's desire for change — it is far more than just a new facility," Dalseo-gu District Chief Lee Tae-hoon said. "We will actively support it so it can grow into a landmark community space for the area."
