Facility to sit at junction of Haeparang Trail routes 8 and 9, offering fitness and tourism experiences by the sea
Ulsan's Dong-gu district is building a beachside fitness facility called the "Haeparang Trail Ilsan Beach Gym" to give tourists and residents a place to exercise and enjoy the coast during the summer season at Ilsan Beach.
The facility will be built on the sandy beach in front of the Haeparang Rest Stop at Ilsan Beach, which marks the end of Haeparang Trail Route 8 and the start of Route 9. Spanning 12 meters by 9.5 meters, it will feature fitness-oriented tourism amenities including a runner's station for joggers and a cross-fit station with high-intensity exercise equipment.
Dong-gu designed the space with July and August in mind — months when heat waves and monsoon rains make walking programs difficult to operate — combining health, fitness and tourism into a new beachside experience.
"We will make sure the facility, safety management and programs are fully ready before the Haeparang Trail Ilsan Beach Gym officially opens in July, so that summer tourists and residents can experience the Haeparang Trail in a whole new way," a Dong-gu official said.
