Shake Shack's Malaysia locations earn halal certification from JAKIM

All Shake Shack locations in Malaysia, operated by Big Bite Company, have received halal certification from JAKIM, the official halal certification body under Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development, the company announced Wednesday.

The four certified stores are the Exchange TRX, Sunway Pyramid, KLIA Terminal 2 and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur locations. Shake Shack opened its first Malaysia store in 2024 and completed a sweeping operational overhaul — including menu restructuring and a switch to halal-certified ingredient suppliers — to secure the certification.

To mark the occasion, Shake Shack is launching Malaysia-exclusive menu items and merchandise. The Steakhouse Burger & Fries, a reinterpretation of classic steakhouse flavors, and a Tiramisu Shake will be available for a limited time. The brand is also releasing a "Shake Shack X BatikTektura" apparel and scarf collection that blends traditional Malaysian batik patterns with Moorish architectural motifs.

"We obtained halal certification as part of our localization strategy to expand in the Malaysian market," a Shake Shack representative said. "We will continue to deliver a differentiated Shake Shack experience through rigorous quality control and hospitality service."
