Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun, who won reelection on his own merits, has referred to Gyeonggi Province Governor-elect Choo Mi-ae as his "big sister."
Lee posted a message on his social media account Tuesday titled "Only livelihoods! Running together with Gyeonggi Province," saying he had "met cherished comrades at the 9th local elections Gyeonggi Party winners' workshop."
"Conversations with the candid Governor-elect Choo Mi-ae are always a pleasure," he wrote. "She was a steady pillar of support throughout the election, just like a big sister. Close cooperation with Gyeonggi Province and neighboring cities is above all essential for Suwon's development."
He added that he would follow through on the mutual cooperation pledges made with Hwaseong and Osan during the campaign. "Together with 19 valued partners, I will run with greater humility and passion toward our shared goals of restoring livelihoods and advancing our communities," he said.
