Park Yong-sun, mayor-elect of Pohang, officially launched the city's mayoral transition committee Wednesday at the Pohang Advanced Marine R&D Center, marking the start of the formal handover process.
The launch ceremony drew about 100 attendees, including Park, transition committee chair Kong Won-sik, vice chair Lee Chil-gu, advisory committee chair Kim Sun-gyeon, advisory committee vice chair Park Dae-gi, and other committee and advisory members.
During a briefing session, the committee reviewed key pending projects and urgent policy tasks to ensure the mayor-elect's governing philosophy and major campaign pledges are reflected in city administration as early as possible.
"I will set the recovery of livelihoods, an industrial resurgence and civic unity as the direction of the ninth directly elected administration, and repay the support I have received with Pohang's revival," Park said, calling on the transition committee to examine current issues and policies with care.
