Seoul's Gangseo-gu announced Wednesday that it will operate a "mobile companion plant clinic" program. According to data released last year by the Rural Development Administration, an estimated 17.45 million people in South Korea keep companion plants. Those in their 30s or younger make up the largest share at 37.2 percent.
The clinic was established to help residents manage pest and disease problems affecting their plants. Each venue will feature four booths. After registering at the reception booth, visitors move to a diagnosis booth where plant specialists — certified plant protection technicians with experience at nurseries and flower shops — assess the plant's condition and provide tailored consultations.
