Ryu Sam-young Receives Official Certificate of Election as Dongjak-gu District Chief

Ryu Sam-young, the incoming chief of Dongjak-gu, officially received his certificate of election on Wednesday.

The Dongjak-gu Election Commission held a certificate presentation ceremony for the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections at its multipurpose conference room Wednesday afternoon, presenting certificates to Ryu and other winning candidates for metropolitan and local assembly seats in the district.

In his acceptance remarks, Ryu said he would "humbly honor the will of both those who supported me and those who did not, and again put into operation the growth engine of Dongjak-gu."

He also urged fellow newly elected officials in the district to "look only to the residents and move forward together for the future of Dongjak-gu."

Immediately after the ceremony, Ryu and the other newly elected officials from Dongjak-gu traveled to the Seoul National Cemetery, where they laid flowers and paid their respects.

During the evening rush hour, Ryu made the rounds at Heukseok, Isu and Sadang stations to greet residents and thank them for their support. Earlier that same morning, he had also greeted commuters at Daebang and Noryangjin stations.

In the local elections held June 3, Ryu won first place with 98,913 votes and a 45.76 percent share, securing election as the popularly elected ninth-term chief of Dongjak-gu.

In total, 21 candidates were elected from Dongjak-gu in the local elections — Ryu along with four metropolitan assembly members and 17 local assembly members, including two proportional representation seats.
