Accommodation coupons available on a first-come, first-served basis across 16 cities and counties through July 31
South Jeolla Province is offering accommodation discounts of up to 70,000 won (about $46) to tourists staying at lodging facilities in 16 depopulated cities and counties through July 31.
The discounts are part of the "2026 Korea Summer Accommodation Sale Festa," a joint initiative with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization aimed at boosting regional tourism and drawing more visitors to depopulated areas.
The 16 participating cities and counties are Gangjin, Goheung, Gokseong, Gurye, Damyang, Boseong, Sinan, Yeonggwang, Yeongam, Wando, Jangseong, Jangheung, Jindo, Hampyeong, Haenam and Hwasun. Tourists staying at hotels, resorts, condominiums and pensions in those areas are eligible to receive discount coupons.
The discount amount varies by the number of nights booked and the total reservation price. For a one-night stay, guests receive 30,000 won off bookings of 70,000 won or more, and 20,000 won off bookings under 70,000 won. For two-night stays, the discount is 70,000 won on bookings of 140,000 won or more, and 50,000 won on bookings under 140,000 won.
Coupons are available starting Thursday through 31 online travel agency channels — including Yeogieoddae, NOL, 11st, G-Market, SSG.com, Kakao Talk Reservations, My Real Trip and Hanatour — issued daily on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m.
Each person may use one coupon, which can be applied to accommodation bookings in depopulated areas during the promotion period. Further details are available on the Korea Tourism Organization's official website at ktostay.visitkorea.or.kr.
"We launched the accommodation sale festa to ease the travel burden on tourists during the peak summer season and to inject vitality into the travel industry and local businesses," said Oh Mi-gyeong, head of the South Jeolla Province tourism division. "We hope visitors will enjoy a special summer trip taking in the province's islands, sea, forests and southern cuisine."
