Shin Jung-hwan hints at Country Kko Kko reunion: 'Before Tak turns 70'

Broadcaster Shin Jung-hwan, 52, has hinted at a possible reunion of the duo Country Kko Kko.

On Tuesday, Shin shared a direct message from a fan on his Instagram Story.

The fan, born in 1990, said they had followed Country Kko Kko since childhood and recalled crossing paths with Shin during filming of the Phuket episode of the TV show "Kang Ho-dong's Cheongsaengyeonbun" — riding the same flight and staying at the same resort. "I'm only now getting around to saying thank you for taking a photo with me back then," the fan wrote.

The fan added a plea: "Please do at least one Country Kko Kko concert. I would take time off work just to be there."

Shin replied, leaving the door open for a reunion: "I think we'll definitely do it at least once before my brother Tak — Tak Jae-hoon — turns 70."

Shin and Tak Jae-hoon performed together as Country Kko Kko from 1998 to 2002, releasing hit songs including "Oh! Happy," "Give Me! Give Me!" and "Kiss."

Meanwhile, Shin drew public controversy in 2010 over charges of illegal overseas gambling in the Philippines. He compounded the backlash by falsely claiming he had been hospitalized with dengue fever to conceal the gambling. He stepped away from the entertainment industry following the incident and returned to broadcasting in 2017.
