Jeju Air launches daily Incheon–Kobe service, eyes expansion on Japan routes

Jeju Air announced Thursday it has launched daily service on the Incheon–Kobe route, operating seven flights a week.

In June, flights depart Incheon International Airport at 1:35 p.m. and arrive at Kobe Airport at 3:15 p.m. The return leg leaves Kobe at 4:15 p.m. and lands at Incheon at 6:15 p.m.

Starting in July, the Incheon departure moves 15 minutes earlier to 1:20 p.m., arriving in Kobe at 3 p.m. The return flight departs Kobe at 4 p.m. and arrives at Incheon at 6:35 p.m.

Kobe, a leading port city in the Kansai region, is known for its exotic Western-influenced architecture rooted in the city's open-port history, Arima Onsen — one of Japan's three great hot spring resorts — and Nankinmachi Chinatown. Meriken Park, home to the Kobe Port Tower and the Maritime Museum, is a popular photography spot offering sweeping views of the sea and sky, as well as a celebrated nighttime skyline.

"Compared with other major Japanese cities, Kobe offers a more relaxed atmosphere and a unique blend of Western, Japanese and Chinese cultures — we highly recommend it as a travel destination," a Jeju Air official said.

To mark the launch, Jeju Air is offering discount coupons through June 16 on its website and mobile app. Customers who purchase a round-trip ticket on the Incheon–Kobe route can receive a coupon worth up to 40,000 won (about $26), while those buying a multi-city round-trip combining the Incheon–Osaka and Kobe–Incheon legs can receive a discount of up to 30,000 won.

In addition, the airline is offering a free 5-kilogram baggage allowance on return flights, along with pre-order in-flight meal coupons of up to 30 percent off items including a cloud-high sandwich and a Buldak Giant Hot Dog.

Meanwhile, Jeju Air is increasing frequencies on major Japan routes — including Tokyo (Narita), Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Matsuyama — in July and August to better serve customers planning summer travel to Japan.
