'Teach You a Lesson' star Kim Mu-yeol says John Cena shoutout felt like 'finding a long-lost brother'

Kim Mu-yeol, the lead actor of the Netflix drama series "Teach You a Lesson," expressed his delight after Hollywood star John Cena posted a photo of him on social media, calling the moment an honor.

On Friday, Kim responded through Netflix Korea's official social media accounts, saying he had seen Cena's shoutout. "I have been a WWE fan since I was young," he said. "This is such an honor."

"It felt like finding a long-lost brother," Kim said, adding that he was amazed the two could connect through Netflix. "It seems like he watched 'Teach You a Lesson' — I cannot believe we get to meet this way."

He also performed Cena's signature "You Can't See Me" hand gesture — waving an open palm in front of his face — and said he hoped to meet the wrestler-turned-actor in person someday.

Cena, who transitioned from professional wrestling to acting, had posted a photo of Kim on his social media account without any caption.

Kim responded in the comments with a play on Cena's famous WWE catchphrase "You Can't See Me," writing: "Now You Can See Me."

"Teach You a Lesson," which premiered June 5, follows a fictional Teachers' Rights Protection Agency created to restore order in schools upended by unruly students, parents and teachers who have crossed the line. Kim plays Na Hwa-jin, an inspector at the agency.

The series debuted at No. 1 on Netflix's global Top 10 non-English TV shows chart.

It topped Netflix's daily Top 10 series rankings in 45 countries, spanning Asia — including India, Japan and Bangladesh — as well as South America, including Brazil, and the Middle East, including Qatar, Lebanon and Turkey. According to streaming tracker FlixPatrol, the show accumulated a total score of 795 points to rank first among all Netflix TV shows globally.
