Gyeongsan launches campaign pledge action plans ahead of 9th elected-term inauguration

Gyeongsan City in North Gyeongsang Province held an expanded senior staff meeting June 12 to formally begin work on action plans for campaign pledges, as the city prepares to wrap up the 8th elected term and inaugurate the 9th.

The meeting was convened to systematize the major pledges of the incoming 9th elected term into concrete action plans, ensuring continuity of city administration with no gaps in governance.

Mayor Jo Hyeon-il personally outlined the intent and direction of the city's key campaign pledges — comprising 84 detailed projects across eight policy areas — and shared implementation strategies and action plans with senior civil servants for discussion.

The eight policy areas covered by the 9th elected term's major pledges are innovative growth, transportation connectivity, welfare and safety, future talent, rural prosperity, youth Gyeongsan, quality urban living and integrated care.

Key initiatives among the 84 projects include establishing an advanced robot cluster at Gyeongsan Industrial Complex 5, building a new expressway linking Gyeongsan and Ulsan, setting up a children's happiness foundation and a Gyeongsan-model public indoor children's playground, and constructing a North Gyeongsang Province Office of Education library in Gyeongsan.

"Campaign pledges are a solemn promise to the people," Mayor Jo said. "Each department must review its pledged projects thoroughly and carry them out without fail, so that residents can see and feel the results."
