Daegu's Dalseo-gu prehistoric culture festival draws over 10,000 visitors

The 2026 Dalseo Prehistoric Culture Experience Festival closed successfully after drawing more than 10,000 visitors to venues across Dalseo-gu in Daegu, the district office announced Monday.

The two-day festival, held June 13 and 14 at Seondol Madang Park, Seondol Park, the Dalseo Prehistoric Museum and Hansaem Bronze Park, drew strong crowds with family-oriented hands-on programs, performances and water play activities, signaling its potential to grow into a leading regional culture and tourism festival.

This year, the completion of a prehistoric-themed street added a new attraction: animated prehistoric animal sculptures installed at Seondol Park that drew considerable attention from visitors.

Hands-on programs allowing visitors to experience prehistoric life — including catching prehistoric animals, starting fires and crafting bronze hand mirrors — proved especially popular with families.

"We will continue to develop the Prehistoric Culture Experience Festival, Daegu's only prehistoric-themed festival, into a signature tourism resource that reflects the identity of our community," Dalseo-gu District Chief Lee Tae-hoon said.
