Ulsan opens free AI and digital education to all residents

Ulsan city has launched an education program to help residents learn and apply AI and digital technology, and is accepting ongoing enrollment for its 2026 AI Digital Learning Center.

Through the end of this year, the city plans to expand access to AI and digital skills through three initiatives: operating hub centers, dispatching instructors to community organizations, and running a mobile education bus.

The hub center network now includes two new locations — Jung-gu's Seongan-dong Post Office and Buk-gu's Ulsan Second Municipal Senior Welfare Center — in addition to the existing Nam-gu Jongha Innovation Center. All three sites will offer weekend and evening classes. Courses are divided into four tracks — general, job-skills, industry-specific and lifestyle support — to provide tailored AI and digital programs.

The centers will also offer hands-on experience with digital devices such as kiosks, drones and digital healthcare equipment. Personalized counseling and learning assessments will be available to help participants work through technical difficulties and psychological barriers when using AI and digital technology.

A dispatch education service will send instructors to institutions and organizations with strong demand for AI and digital training, providing on-site classes and digital services upon request.

An "edu-bus" carrying educational equipment will travel to underserved areas with limited access to learning facilities. All programs are free for Ulsan residents, who can register through the Digital Learning Center website (www.디지털배움터.kr) or by calling 1800-0096.

"AI and digital technology are becoming essential capabilities across everyday life and economic activity," a city official said. "We encourage residents to make full use of the expanded hub centers, weekend and evening classes, and the outreach education that reaches all towns and villages."
